I use the term 'Idlers' as more than a short form for the so-called Idle No More gang. It also describes their common behaviour and attitudes of perpetuating dependency by demanding tribute from non-Indian Canadians. They mostly do not contribute to Canadian society and our economy in any meaningful way, and primarily exist on handouts and the yield from their demands granted by people who think like our current Prime Minister.
Mr. Black regrets that the Idlers' efforts to blacken the reputation of John A. McDonald, and practically every non-Indian Canadian, will have a harmful effect on the respect and sympathy towards Indians that currently lives within the hearts of many non-Indian Canadians. I have no such regrets. Most of that respect and sympathy is not well-founded. The sooner non-Indian Canadians have their eyes and ears truly opened, the better. See my previous comment in this blog entitled 'Racism Rampant - Indian Culture in Canada'.
This behaviour reminds me of the response by the Saskatchewan Indian Chiefs' organization to the sincere and valiant efforts by the leadership of a reserve near Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, to build a business to employ Indians, utilize nearby forests and economically better Indians. The business harvested logs and sold prepared logs on the market, and used some of the product to construct homes on the reserve it served. The Chiefs' response: (I paraphrase) - 'You shouldn't be building those homes - that's whitey's responsibility. You are letting them off the hook'.
It is not too often that one hears such a clearly stated public admission of asininity and stupidity.
